So as to broadcast first aid knowledge and technology as well as enable students to grasp the skills of self and mutual rescue, on the afternoon of 13th September, at the Lecture hall, all students from the tenth grade of Anqing Foreign Language School listened attentively to a pragmatic lecture about first aid knowledge. The grand event was organized by Anqing Red Cross Society, Anqing Nursing Association in charge of emergency and severe disease, hosted by Anqing Foreign Language School’s Moral Education Department& Senior High Department and presented by Anqing No.2 People’s Hospital. The keynote speakers were Office Director Pan Li, Nursing Director Sun Fang, Head Nurse Jiang Aiqin in charge of Intensive Care Unit, Charge Nurse Sun Yurong with the Emergency Ward in addition to eight other medical staff from Anqing No. 2 People’s Hospital.
In the first place, the event was chaired by Senior High Section Director Xu Haihong who emphasized that the Red Cross Society and Red Crescent International Federation set the second Saturday in September as the ‘World First Aid Day’. Also, Director Xu explained that the aim of this event was to popularize self and mutual rescue knowledge to students. Other than that, Director Xu especially expressed thanks to experts from Anqing No. 2 People’s Hospital who arrived at Anqing Foreign Language School to conduct lecture training.
In the second place, Head Nurse Jiang Aiqin with the Intensive Care Unit of Anqing No. 2 People’s Hospital issued a keynote speech with the title of ‘First Aid Knowledge during Daily Life and Disasters’. She stressed that the Emergency International Organization hoped to call upon people around the world to attach great importance to first aid knowledge through this commemoration day so that more and more people could master first aid skills and save lives on site to lower the extent of injury. Besides, Head Nurse Jiang Aiqin conducted a brief introduction to students in terms of the development history of first aid techniques as well as the significance of first aid methods. Other than that, she spread the Red Cross’s humanitarian aid concept interpreted as ‘All for First Aid& First Aid for All’.
In the third place, by means of this publicity video, students comprehended how they would manage emergencies when confronted with fire hazard, electric shock, drowning and sprain. What’s more, in order to deepen students’ understandings, two nurses even proceeded interactive teaching on the scene in that they demonstrated cardio pulmonary resuscitation other known as CPR on anthropometric dummy to let students further consolidate the knowledge that they learned and grasp the basic skills of on-site first aid. Therefore, students were full of enthusiasm owing to vivid explanation and active interactive sessions.
All in all, by means of this ‘First Aid knowledge during Daily Life and Disasters’ campaign on campus, teachers and students from Anqing Foreign Language School learnt a great deal of professional on-site first aid knowledge and enhanced their self-protection awareness. In the meantime, they understood that by learning first aid knowledge they could teach more people to spread and popularize first aid knowledge to provide another regeneration opportunity for people in need.
